Prevention treatment of a hypercholesterolemic patient at moderate-low cardiovascular risk.

Female patient, 44 years old. Lives with family (husband and 2 children), homemaker, independent in AVQs, sedentary

CV risk factors: high blood pressure, smoker (about 10 cigarettes/day) and family history of CAD (on therapy with: nebivolol 5mg 1cpr in the evening; bromazepam gtt a.b.)

Noncardiovascular comorbidity: Anxiety-depressive syndrome

Arrives for annual follow-up visit on 17/03/2021:

  • In a.b.s. except sporadic episodes of tachycardic heart palpitation, especially during periods of increased psychophysical stress
  • Hematochemical tests on 08/03/2021 substantially within limits except Total Cholesterolemia, HDL, LDL and Triglyceridemia. MODERATE cardiovascular risk.

Therapy: Complying with the ESC/EAS 2019(Guidelines for the management of dysplidaemias: lipid modification to reduce cardiovascular risk), 1 cpr of ICARO was prescribed daily for three months.

CONCLUSIONS:

In conclusion, in patients at moderate-low cardiovascular risk in PRIMARY PREVENTION a viable treatment option also in line with international recommendations regarding the management of dyslipidemia (ESC/EAS) and especially hypercholesterolemia is the use of NUTRACEUTICS. In this case, Icaro 30cpr is well suited for the prevention of a hypercholesterolemic patient with moderate-low cardiovascular risk.

All this would reduce our patient’s cardiovascular risk, which let us not forget is cumulative over the years.

Based on current knowledge of atherosclerotic plaque formation, it is plausible to think that achieving optimal c-LDL levels at a young age and maintaining them throughout adulthood represents the best prevention strategy for coronary artery disease according to which cholesterol-lowering procedures are delayed until later stages of life, when atherosclerosis is now advanced.

Data were extracted from the patient’s medical records.
