Galen in his work “On the Way of Identifying the Best Physician”: writes referring to the ideal physician: “having profound knowledge of medical tradition, anatomo-physiology, prognosis, and demonstrative methods. Also required of the physician is an assiduous love of study (“loving madness for truth”) and contempt for worldly vanities; it is also necessary that he should know the parts of philosophy essential to his way of life (ethics, logic, and physics).”
