Introduction<\/strong><\/p>

Vitamin D activation occurs in the skin during exposure to sunlight. Consequently, increased exposure to the sun results in increased levels of the vitamin. Although living in Southern Europe, numerous studies indicate that vitamin D levels in the Italian population are insufficient overall.
To verify this finding, 48 patients requesting a dermatological examination for various diseases were selected and, after informing them of the reason for the examination, vitamin D dosage was requested.
In case of vitamin deficiency, specific therapy was initiated.
The results that emerged from the investigation are presented. <\/p>

Type of patients, materials and methods<\/strong><\/p>

Forty-eight patients who came to our observation for various dermatological conditions were selected.
Patients were selected on the basis of booking order and not on the basis of either dermatologic or systemic diseases.
The ages of the 20 female patients ranged from 19 to 80 years old, while the 28 male patients ranged from 18 to 80 years old.
After informing the patients of the purpose of the investigation, we prescribed the blood dosage of vitamin D3.
In cases of vitamin deficiency, Diviken spray was prescribed at a daily dose of 4 sprays in the oral cavity. In cases of vitamin D3 values between 12 and 30 ng\/ml, the daily dose was set at 8 sprays per day. After three months, patients underwent a new blood sampling to check the achieved level of the vitamin. <\/p>

Exclusion criteria<\/strong><\/p>

Patients under the age of 18 years, and patients with known allergy to the components of the
drug were excluded.<\/p>

Results<\/strong>
All patients presented vitamin deficiency.
Therapy was then initiated at the necessary dosage in relation to the blood value of vitamin D3.
After three months of therapy, normalization of the blood Vitamin D3 level was observed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Discussion<\/strong><\/p>

Despite living in a sunnier region of Europe than the others, even remarkably low levels of vitamin D3 were found in 48 randomly selected patients.
In addition to particular dietary variations that are leading us to abandon the Mediterranean diet, traditional in our southern regions, in favor of a U.S. diet, which is certainly faster but low in healthy trace elements and vitamins, we must also consider that normal clothing protects the skin from exposure to the sun. It is therefore like having a solar panel that is kept constantly covered.
Vitamin D3 is essential for the normal performance of many of our body’s metabolic cycles. Since we cannot change social habits, it seems appropriate to intervene pharmacologically, after hematochemical evaluation, by choosing a drug that is easy to take, free of unpleasant odor and with an acceptable taste, administered daily, which appears pharmacologically more useful than single monthly loading doses, in order to ensure the best possible health conditions for our patients. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
