FROM TODAY YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE
TO 'STOMACH ACIDITY!
Index
According to recent estimates, about 80 percent of the adult population in Italy has dealt with heartburn-related pain at least once; moreover, the latest surveys have reported instead a rather alarming: 3 out of 10 people suffer from this disorder chronically.
When this kind of problem is not limited to a single episode, then it is more correct to speak of gastritis, which is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa, the layer innermost of the stomach.
Especially during seasonal changes (fall and spring), this condition tends to manifest itself more aggressively.Gastritis, as well as many stomach and intestinal disorders, depends a great deal on the change of season and the implications this has on the body. When, on the other hand, stomach acid travels up the esophagus and causes burning and pain, it is more correct to speak of gastroesophageal reflux.
But what are the causes of these disorders?
As mentioned earlier, gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining and can be caused by a variety of factors: some causes are temporary and resolvable, while others are physiologically more chronic. Reflux, on the other hand, is a regurgitation of acid from the stomach into the esophagus that can cause irritation of the esophageal walls. Generally, the most common causes for gastritis are:
- Helicobacter pylori infection
This is one of the most common causes of chronic gastritis.Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that lives in the mucosal layer of the stomach and can cause chronic inflammation of the mucosa.
- Prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or reaction to medical treatment
Frequent or prolonged use of medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen can irritate the stomach lining, reducing substances that protect the stomach from acid. Some treatments, such as radiation therapy, can damage and thin the stomach lining and cause gastritis.
- Unhealthy lifestyle
Factors such as high alcohol consumption and smoking negatively affect stomach health: alcohol especially is highly irritant to the mucosa and can damage it.
As in most diseases related to the digestive system, diet plays a crucial role: regular intake of foods that are too spicy, acidic, fatty, or fried can damage the first inner layer of the stomach.
- Physical or emotional stress
Intense physical stress, such as from trauma, can trigger acute gastritis, also called stress gastritis. Emotional stress, if prolonged, can also aggravate gastritis or trigger its symptoms in predisposed people.
- Autoimmune or chronic diseases, viral or fungal infections
In some situations, the immune system may mistakenly attack the cells of the gastric mucosa, causing a form of gastritis called autoimmune gastritis.
Infections with viruses (such asherpes simplex virus) or fungi, as well as conditions chronic can also affect the stomach and cause gastritis.
- Advanced age
With age, the lining of the stomach tends to thin and gastric acid production may decrease, increasing the risk of gastritis.
As for reflux, however, it is generally caused by excessive production of hydrochloric acid and malfunction of the valve that lies between the stomach and esophagus.
But how can I tell if I suffer from stomach acidity-related disorders?
Recognizing the symptoms of gastritis or reflux can be complex because they can vary from person to person-these can be confused with other gastrointestinal disorders, but there are some common signs that can help you tell if you have gastritis.
- Pain or burning in the upper abdomen (heartburn): This is one of the most typical symptoms, often described as a burning sensation that may worsen after meals or during the night.
- Nausea or vomiting: Gastritis may cause nausea or vomiting.
- Early feeling of satiety: You may feel full after eating small amounts of food.
- Difficulty in digestion (dyspepsia): Feeling of heaviness, bloating or general malaise after meals.
- Reflux: Repeated belching and a bitter or sour taste in the mouth may occur.
- Loss of appetite: In some cases, gastritis can reduce appetite.
How can I alleviate the symptoms?
There are several strategies and treatments to relieve symptoms and prevent gastritis and gastroesophageal reflux from worsening. The remedies are varied and disparate and can be divided into “categories.”
- “Good habits”
- Drug treatments
- Natural remedies
Regarding the first category, it should be remembered that as much as good habits bring benefits, these do not cure the disease directly, but prevent it from degenerating, counteracting its aggravation; these “good habits” consist of:
- A balanced diet, rich, if possible, in foods that soothe the stomach (avoiding acidic foods such as coffee, or heavy to digest)
- abundant and constant hydration
- regular sleep
- periodic exercise
- Control, when possible, stress levels
- Avoid clothes that are too tight in the abdominal area
For the second category, however, it is crucial to remember the digestive system is a delicate system, which is precisely why it is necessary to take into account potential side effects that, often, contribute to further aggravating dormant situations.
The most common drug treatments include:
- Antacid
- Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)
- H2-antagonists
- Antibiotics
Natural remedies, while less effective than drug treatments, are free of contraindications and have a strong soothing effect with respect to gastritis and its symptoms.
Is there a SPECIFIC product to counteract these annoying symptoms?
To counteract gastritis, reflux and their implications, research Wikenfarma has developed GastroWiken, a dietary supplement gel in sachets that, unlike many alternatives on the market, acts to regulate directly the acidity of the stomach’s mucous membranes. Unlike its competitors, which often fail to control both acidity and reflux, as well as are to be taken with caution, GastroWiken succeeds in relieving the burning sensation while simultaneously counteracting gastritis, acidity and reflux. This is precisely why GastroWiken represents the alternative most complete and natural on the market, as well as the one with the fastest and most immediate results.
