FIND OUT HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE EARLY SIGNS OF FEMALE ALOPECIA

Here's how to prevent premature fall!

Index

Hair health is often taken for granted until damage becomes visible and tangible. Thinning hair in women may be a transient phenomenon or the first sign of a more persistent condition, but it is a much more common situation than one might think.
According to recent estimates, one in four women in Italy suffers, or has suffered, from problems related to massive hair loss: this is precisely why recognizing the first symptoms and acting promptly is essential to prevent progressive weakening of the hair or the death of the follicle itself.
That is why we want to explain what the early signs of abnormal fall are, so that you can defend yourself and avoid thinning!

First of all: why does hair weaken and fall out?

Hair loss in women can be influenced by multiple factors, some genetic and some environmental. Let’s find out about them together:

  • Hormonal imbalances: changes in estrogen and androgen levels, such as those that occur during menopause or as a result of endocrine disorders, can weaken the follicle and accelerate the fall.
  • Stress and psychological factors: situations of severe physical or emotional stress can alter the hair growth cycle, anticipating the falling phase (telogen effluvium).
  • Nutritional deficiencies: a diet low in iron, zinc, biotin and other essential micronutrients can compromise scalp health and hair shaft strength.
  • Genetic factors: female androgenetic alopecia, linked to a genetic predisposition, manifests as progressive thinning, especially in the central area of the head.
  • Seasonal changes: climatic changes, such as the transition from summer to autumn, can lead to more intense temporary fall due to mental and physical stress.
  • Harsh treatments: frequent use of heat tools, chemical dyes and too-tight hairstyles can damage the hair structure and weaken the follicle.

What are the signs not to be ignored?

  1. A lot of hair breaks or falls out during brushing or washing: If you notice more hair in your brush or shower drain, it could be an early warning sign.
  2. Visibly thinner hair: A reduction in the diameter of the hair shaft may indicate progressive weakening of the follicle, resulting in hair loss.
  3. Sudden thinning: If you begin to notice an advancing receding hairline or a more noticeable scalp, you may be facing the onset of thinning.
  4. Hair that is more brittle and breaks easily: If your hair seems less elastic, tends to break or looks duller, it’s time to pay attention to its health.
  5. Decrease in overall hair volume: If your hair looks less thick overnight, it could be a sign of an altered hair growth cycle.

Why is early intervention critical?

Ignoring these early signs can lead to rapid progression of the problem, making it more difficult to recover hair density. Preventive intervention with targeted treatments can strengthen follicles, improve scalp microcirculation, and rebalance any nutritional deficiencies. It is also often necessary to act at the metabolic and hormonal levels to restore the health of damaged follicles.
